Women in Movement
Six people, one table who are you inviting? For this project I choose 6 strong powerful women some dead, some alive to invite to my dream dinner party. This 32 page booklet acts as an invitation, menu and mini biography of each guest. With typography inspired by the guests and the paper colour aiming to show the power in pink! These women have inspired me, each other and women across the world.
The Brief
The brief for this project was open to interpretation, no minimum or maximum page count, no page size requirements. The only requirement was 700-800 words per guest with an additional 200 words per guest on why I chose them. Another restriction was not to include the guests name in the expressive typography, the aim was to get readers attentions with quotes.
The Guests
Six inspirational women who created movement in their field. Women in motion describes Susie Wolff and Simone Biles both known for being fast and powerful. Susie Wolff is the most recent female Formula One driver and current director of F1 Academy which aims to get young women into Formula One. Simone Biles is an American gymnast and a 7 time Olympic gold medalist, with 5 moves named after her. Women in media describes Anne Hathaway and Terri Irwin both well known for their film and tv appearances as well as their activism. Anne Hathaway is an actress known for her roles in The Devil Wears Prada, Interstellar and Bride Wars. Terri Irwin is a conservationist best known for her work at Australia Zoo and the documentaries she filmed with her late husband Steve. Women in memory describes Amelia Earhart and Jo van Gogh Bonger, two guests who are no longer with us but have made a lasting impression. Amelia Earhart is best known for becoming lost at sea during her attempt to fly solo around the world in 1937. Jo van Gogh Bonger was the sister in law of Vincent van Gogh and is the reason we know of his work today.
